Production of these sweets is attributed to ancient Egyptians and Greeks. Then the fruit or berry puree was beaten with egg yolk, and pectin helps this mass thicken. According to one legend, even their name came from the god Zephyr, who shared a recipe with the people.

So this product became the ancestor of marshmallows, which were first prepared in the 19th century from the root of mallow. In those days, the root of the mallow was used to treat a sore throat. Even now, the traditional marshmallow white or pale pink colors are due to the mallow flowers from which the sweets were first prepared.

Ingredients:

Cooking

  •   Dissolve gelatin in cold water and leave for an hour and a half. During this time, it will swell and be ready for further manipulations. Amino acids that are found in gelatin help preserve connective tissue and cartilage.
  •   Cut the washed apples in half and bake them in the oven at a temperature of 180 degrees for about half an hour. Carefully remove the peels from the baked apples. The remaining pulp must be stirred well. Marshmallow is useful primarily because it contains apples, and apples are rich in pectin. It removes toxins from the body, lowers cholesterol, and increases the body’s resistance to various environmental factors.

  •   Add sugar and citric acid in the resulting apple mass. Next, put the applesauce on the fire and cook on medium heat until it gets thicker. Do not forget to stir. Cool it.
  •   Add gelatin, which was supposed to swell, put the pan on fire cook until small crystals dissolve. Do not forget to continuously stir the mass.
  •   Beat the cooled egg whites in a strong foam and add to the apple mass. Constantly stirring the mass, pour in a thin stream of gelatin. The egg white is very useful for the body: it removes toxins, stabilizes blood sugar, and stimulates brain activity.
  •   Cover the baking sheet with baking paper, and put the “dough” in a cooking bag. If you do not have it, you can gently lay out the mass with a spoon.
  •   Baking tray with marshmallows should be refrigerated for 4 hours until completely hardened.
  •   Ready marshmallows can be sprinkled with powdered sugar.
